Lely Horizon isn't just farm management software - it’s an extra set of eyes in the barn 24/7. One of its key features is the Cow Health Model, which uses a smart algorithm to watch over each cow's well-being and will alert you to any health issues right away.

What's behind Lely Horizon's Cow Health Model?

Understanding Horizon’s health model

The cow health model is a smart model, combining data from different sources such as the Lely Astronaut, the responder around the cows' neck, and Horizon itself. It’s build on parameters like rumination minutes, milk production, somatic cell count, conductivity, weight, and rest feed. Each parameter is carefully weighed, with some carrying heavier significance than others. By combining all this information Horizon can monitor each cow’s health status carefully.

Efficient health management

By assigning a sick chance rating from 0 to 99 to each cow, Horizon effectively helps prioritize your attention. When a cow's health parameters deviate beyond the norm, the system will alert you through the health task, indicating specific areas of concern. This helps you plan what to do next and where to focus your efforts.

Interpreting health data

With a high sick chance and concerning changes in conductivity and milk yield a cow will be flagged for immediate attention. Meanwhile, a different cow can, despite experiencing minor fluctuations in rumination minutes, show health overall and remain off the health task. The health task will also show if cows are new to the list or if they are already being treated and if their situation deteriorates or improves. This nuanced understanding of each cow's health status allows for targeted actions, minimizing unnecessary interventions and maximizing herd well-being. The moment a cow appears on the health task is customizable as well, as some farmers would like to be more on top of their cows’ health.

Continuous monitoring, 24/7

With Lely Horizon, farmers using Astronaut are digitally connected to the cow health model and their herd around the clock. This constant monitoring identifies potential health issues and their measured symptoms, providing data driven decision support. Contributing to your productivity and ease of mind knowing that you can focus on the cows that need it the most while the rest of the herd is being looked after by Lely Horizon.
